Dental implants are a permanent solution to correct missing or extracted teeth. Because no other teeth need to be altered for this solution, as is the case with other solutions like bridges, it is a very popular and common choice.

The dental implant process takes a few months. First, the implant itself must be installed in the jaw bone. A screw is placed in the jaw, and then the gums are sutured. After 3-6 months of healing, the jaw bone forms around the implant. This process is called osseointegration. Temporary crowns can be installed during this healing time, allowing you to continue to eat and speak normally.

When the implant itself has healed, an abutment is placed on the implant. This serves as a base. An impression is taken and used to create a permanent restoration. A crown is created (whether on-site or at a lab) and can then be permanently attached, restoring your smile.
